My husband and I have made the decision to return to Germany. I've applied for PR inland in April 2015. I've been on an OWP since August 2015. It expires in July 2017. I'll probably leave between February and July 2017.

Now, what happens if I withdraw the PR application? Will I have to surrender my OWP right away? We're hoping to get a refund for my PR card fee.
They've also asked me to go through another med examination. And I don't really wanna spend the money. :/

Your answers would mean a lot to me. Thanks!!!

From the one or two cases that have been posted on the forum, the OWP remains valid.

As mentioned, it will likely remain valid until it expires. However you will need to apply to extend your stay as visitor status before OWP expires. You will not be able to renew / extend OWP as inland application was withdrawn.

Why would you not just keep the application open so you have the PR status should you decide you want to live in Canada in the future? The landing fee refund isn't really all that much money..

Living abroad with your Canadian sponsor each day would also count towards residency requirements as well.

Seems like a win win to me

Thank you so much, everyone. Yeah, we are thinking about keeping the application. One more question: What if I return to Germany before my PR is granted? Do I have to travel to Canada to pick up the PR card etc.?

A PR Card can only be mailed to a Canadian address, but if you leave and return to Germany before PR is granted you'll likely be refused as you applied inland
