Hi All,

I have received my CoPR last month and it is valid till Oct 30. Due to some reasons I have decided not to migrate to Canada and hence want to withdraw the CoPR.

I have paid the right to PR fees of CAD 490 along with my application. Can anyone help me with the process of applying for the refund of the same?

Thank you in advance.

You have to contact the issuing office (where you sent your passport) and inform them that you wish to withdraw. They will probably ask you to send them the passport again.

However, are you absolutely certain you wish to withdraw? Getting PR status is difficult and you may not qualify in the future if you change your mind.

You can come to Canada, land, and then go back to your home country. You then have 3 years to decide whether you want to migrate or not.

You can read more about the refund process here.

Cases outside the family class
In cases outside the family class, the refund of the RPRF should be initiated as soon as the letter is sent to the applicant indicating refusal, withdrawal or receipt of an unused permanent resident visa at the visa office. In cases where the principal applicant is deceased, the refund should be made to the estate of the applicant after confirmation from the legal representative of the deceased.
