Will they ask for my passport for restoring status to visitor?

I made an application to restore my status to that of a visitor but in case the restoration processing time is too long, I do not want to wait here for nearly 40 days just to be given a restoration as I have lost worker status some time ago.

My question is will I be asked for passport or is this going to be like a permit that is sent to my address? Either way, if it takes 40 days, I am thinking of withdrawing my application and leaving while still within the grace period to apply for restoration. I am confused, any advice would be appreciated.

I don't think you have to send them your passport.

It is called Visitor record. That's what you'll get in mail just like work permit.
