Will my current study permit still be valid if I renew my passport?

Just need some clarification on this.

I will want to apply for a Post Graduation Work Permit when I complete my study program, but will have less than 12 months left on my passport and so plan to have to it renewed. Renewing my passport means my current passport (which has my valid study permit) will be cancelled.

My question is will renewing my passport affect the validity of my study permit? As I need it to be valid in order to apply for my Post Graduation Work Permit.
