hi

i am a canadian citizen. i went to my home country for delivery and gave birth to a baby girl. she got her canadian passport as a sponsor case from local canadian high commission. now we are going back to canada as we live there . she is 3 months old and this will be her first visit to canada. she inherited some gold jewellery and other valuable items from her grand parents and other relatives as a tradition. i have following questions.

1) if we carry all her gold and declare it at the airport custom would she be exempted from duty.

2) i might not carry all of the gold , can i take snaps of all the belongings and get them all stamped at the custom. will that also save me from paying duty.

3) how much gold i am allowed to carry at one time.

4) any other information. i am planning to carry all her belongings. what steps should i take.

there are websites but the information on them is too lengthy and complicated to understand. please help

you are allowed up to $10,000 in currency or similar instrument I dont believe they will view child jewellery as as a sneaky way of bringing in gold if u explain that u got all that gift then its fine I got married recently and explain once I got home gifts i received that i brought back home
