Will application be returned or asked for document?

We're submitting spousal application + OWP.

I was wondering if a letter from university for academic standing is required or not?

If so, would they return the OWP application or just ask for the document?
and just in case if they return the OWP portion of the package, will they refund 255$ or not?

your current academic standing is irrelevant to the sponsorship and OWP applications. there is no need to submit it, and it will not be requested for the OWP to be processed. this is a non issue.

whether IRCC returns a package or requests for a document depends on IRCC. OWP applications more than likely will not be returned without the actual sponsorship application. the fee will not be used until the application processes, so if an application is sent back, the fee will not have been processed. a refund is not issued unless you voluntarily withdraw your application.

My study permit is valid till end of April this year 2017. I am assuming that wouldn't be an issue, as they will receive my spousal+OWP application in a few days. Am I right?

On the checklist IMM5556E, I can leave the If You Are Student section empty, right?

Per your other posts, you're not a student at this time. You may have a study permit, but you are not registered at University and taking classes. You aren't a student.

What route should I best take then in my application?

I am done with all the course work! Only writing thesis is left.

Well, I called CIC twice and they mentioned that owp for spousal sponsorship does not need anything from university.

It might be hopeful to mention that my university still updates me about tuition fee that I owe to university, so I am still in their system.
