Widowed, can i sponsor my in-laws

Hi, I'm a relatively young widower (42 years old). My in-laws are an amazing help to me since my wife died 3 years ago, but they live in Ireland and it would be amazing if they lived here. Would I be able to sponsor them under Family Class or would I be rejected due to the fact they are not my blood relatives?

No - unfortunately you can't. They aren't related to you by blood and therefore do not meet CIC's definition of family members.

Thanks - I suspected that might be the case, that's really disappointing. They are beyond working years so I don't know what, if any, other avenues might be open to them...

They can certainly visit - but they unfortunately cannot live here.

Canada's non-family immigration streams are all economic streams. If they are already retired, there really aren't any options for immigrating to Canada available to them.
