Hi Guys,

I really need your help. My CRS total is low - 390. I feel it should be higher.

I am 33, my spouse is 34
I have a Masters degree and 3 years managerial experience
IELTS CLB - 7.5 (7.5 for my spouse too)

Why is my CRS score this low?

- you don't mention any Canadian experience for you or your spouse.
- you don't mention any skilled work experience for your spouse, or for yourself beyond the 3 years of mgt experience (foreign, I assume). You can use skilled work experience within the past 10 years.
- you don't mention your spouse's education or whether either of you have gotten the ECA done.
- you may be inputting your language scores incorrectly, the combined CLB is not a useful piece of info.

Without an LMIA-supported job offer, or a provincial nomination, the maximum possible score is 600 pts, but you lose points with age. You also lose points if you are married but your spouse's credentials do not contribute to the overall total.

Any French language skills? You can pick up more points if you also take the French language test.

Thanks so much for your response. I have provided more information below.

IELTS Score

Me(Spouse)
S- 7(7)
R- 7(7.5)
L- 7( 8 )
W- 8.5(7.5)

I did ECA for my Masters, my spouse has a BSc, also did ECA.

We do not have Canadian work experience but we have over 3 years foreign work experience.

Thanks.

I actually have 7 years work experience but 3 years (out of the 7 years) managerial work experience.

So re-take IELTS it is.

Thanks for the links sent.

Get your IELTS level to 8 per area or better. Also, try and claim points for your spouse - meaning get her to assess her education and english ability.
Sadly age also has a factor into the CRS and you have lost some points already seeing as you are 33 / 34 respectively.

Yes, you can gain points with better IELTS scores, and with the way you write, I am certain you can do it!
