Hello everyone,

Would really appreciate your response.

Application filed in New Delhi, residing and working in Saudi Arabia and medical done in Saudi Arabia.

I had applied in Aug 2011 via simplified process, on online record says started processing your application in Feb 2012. Completed medicals in April 2012, obviously it expired. Kept updating them about change of jobs etc...

Was asked medical again which we did in May 2014. Now received a request to submit passport COPIES (not original passports) within 15 days. Passports of children had been updated and submitted in 2013 again as they had asked to submit with updated photoes. But we had to request the passports back after two months for our iqama renewal in KSA. While returning the passports they asked us not to submit the passports again till specifically requested. Now I don't understand why have they asked for the passport copies ?

Also will we be asked to submit police clearance again ? Already had submitted in 2012.

Re: Why asking for passport copies (again) after medical ?

they are asking for passport copies to ensure the passport hasn't expired or the information hasn't changed since your application was sent in. considering you applied in 2011, and it started processing in 2012, this seems logical.

This is also common practice for many visa offices, and is considered the "passport request" generally done prior to approving the application. Some visa offices won't request the actual passport for issuing visas, some will just request copies and issue the paper separately. So this *may* mean the wait is almost over.

Thank you so much for the reply. You got my hopes soaring HIGH, though I noticed you said *may* :)

Kindly answer regarding the police clearance too.

Also, I have been waiting for my newborn's passport and birth certificate (born on 23rd April 2014), to update them about the newborn. Have not informed as yet. Will probably take another two weeks to get the newborn's passport and birth certificate from the Indian Consulate. How would this affect the application, *if* it were that my file is at the stage of getting stamped with the visa ? Will they see the delay in informing as 'failure' to inform ?

i have no idea if cic will request new police records. if you are worried about it, then my suggestion is to go ahead and start ordering new ones just in case they are requested.

i would suspect if you have a newborn, they aren't going to charge you with "misrepresentation". you can always send them a letter with the passport copies letting them you know you are still waiting to receive the passport for your newborn child and you will forward a copy as soon as it's received. You can even send them a copy of the birth certificate.

there is usually no rhyme or reason to how cic does things, since each application is handled by different agents. my answers are assumptions based on information i read on this forum from other applicants.
