I'm interested to hear different viewpoints on why people are moving to Canada

What is your main reason?

The thought struck me after reading through quite a few of these posts and realising that for some it's family, some it's work and for a lot it's because Canada seems to be the land or opportunity with a pot of gold on each street corner.

Just to kick us off, I'm going there because my wife and kids are Canadians and having lived in Europe, Asia and the Middle East I'd like to experience life in North America.

How about you?

Compared to where my partner and I currently live, my impressions are that Canada:

- is cheaper than where we currently live
- offers more job opportunities which pay more than we both earn here
- has a better overall quality of life
- has houses that are bigger and nicer than where we currently live
- gives easy access to the rest of North America which, having lived in the UK all of my life, is a bonus for people like us who like to travel and experience new things
- has a climate which is generally similar to what we're used to, albeit that there will be more extremes perhaps than here.

It's all little things like that that have influenced our decision, I really couldn't pick any one single factor.

thanks or adding to the post, do you have family links to Canada as well or is it more of a trip into the unknown?

Where do you plan on settling?

We have friends in Canada but no family ties. It's a bit of a trip into the unknown for us. We're very excited! Still a little way away yet, we've not applied yet, but it'll be done soon and then we'll hope to get invitation to apply quickly :)

I am moving to Canada because i would like to join my husband who happens to be a Canadian citizen.

I'm a bit lucky, my wife is still with me and we'll move to Canada together

I am moving as my sister lives in Niagara falls (US), wont be possible to be migrated to US so decided to move to Mississauga Ontario which is only few hours from NF.. on the contrary, knowing that there are not enough jobs for Civil Engineers (as i am Post graduated from London UK) still aiming to move eventually will be settled somehow..I am currently living in UAE with my wife both are struggling & the main drawback in this country is if we don't have job we have to leave this country within one month & also we are not allowed to do even a survival jobs if we want to prolong our stay...

At least you'll be closer to family, I've heard UAE can be a very difficult place to stay if you're not emirati and don't have a job. they are particularly good at swiftly moving people along

How do you get a PR so fast? I'm Canadian Citizen and I have to fill to many forms to sponsor my wife and bring my family to Canada, wow I'm impress only 4 months!!!

Hi Hardcookie we are both in the March submission group! I'm the sponsor I live in Regina SK too :) My fiance is moving here solely to be with me. He would have preferred we moved to the US but I have a career here and in the US he doesn't make enough to sponsor me since most of his income is unclaimed (tips). He lives in a very warm state so the winters here are tough on him but despite that we'd live anywhere it meant we could be together :)
