I m looking for admission in Algonquin college too, till now i have researched on it and found it good enough!
I had a talk with its representative in India and it shows good and positive things about Algonquin. They said Ottawa is a place co-operate offices and have more than 2000 companies. I am planning to go for one year course.
What are you planning to do there ? what is your course of interest?
We can share information about Ottawa and Algonquin college and help each other to know the pros and cons!!

I wanna keep working in Ottawa if they'll have me, and then apply for permanent residency if all goes well

Go to university if you can afford to do so. It would be easier for you to get your study permit, post graduation work permit and later a job.
