I am a chubby gal not extremely so but not skinny either and although not a model I am no elephant man either lol and I am divorced. The officer said to my husband can I see your wedding pictures and my husband showed them to her. ( they were the same picitures we submitted with our application) She looked at the pictures and she said your wife is plumb I dont know what you could possibly love about her. My husband said I do love her she is beautiful in my eyes. She said no you dont, look at how she looks infront of you. No your not inlove with her look at her she is plump and divorced. My husband said Yes I do ever since I was a child I have like girls that were not thin and she looked and him and said No you dont! My husband was so upset at this point but was afriad to say too much thinking we might get rejected. She said to him I can see in your eyes as soon as you get to canada you will leave her, my husband said no I dont want to leave her I want to be with her I love her thats why I married her. My husband said isnt it my life and my choice? She said, well I can see because she is white and Indians chase after white skin, but I dont see what you could love in her. She said No Indian should marry a Canadian. My husband said she spent most of the interview degrading how I looked which really upset him deeply and he didnt know what to do. She argued with him about his religion. She said how can you be christian with a hindu name. Myhusband explained to her since generations his family has been christian but she fought with him on every subject. It was awful. I told a friend of mine that I was going to complain about her to the high commission and they said dont bother they wont reply because many people complain and no one responds. I said I dont care I just cant sit back while this goes on. So I wrote my email. A Mr. David Caron replied to me and he said that he would look into the matter. Of course it was a he said he said since they looked at her files of my husbands interview and said she didnt say anything that was unacceptable. However, they said they can not prove she said those things, but neither can they disprove she didnt say them. he further said that if she had said them then it was definitely inappropriate behaviour. They put a note on her file and she was told not to have such accusation against her again. (so I was told)
When I got the notes from the interview that my husband had, I was in shock, she said noted things that was not even true and and some thigns didnt even happen. So when I appealed our case I made sure that the letter from the High commision concerning that officer was included. And at the appeal I mentioned the letter and Mr. Carons response to what happened. It was a horrific experience and hopefully we wont have to go through this another year, but as I said. I am sure she will be working on our case now and I wonder if she will try to delay things in retaliation for my complaint. So thats my biggest worry. My husband and I just want to be together.
