Hi Everyone!

I received an ITA yesterday (YEY! :D)

I have also received an invite from Ontario PNP and apparently meet requirements for FSWP and CEC. I think the CEC is a mistake as you can only select the month of employment, not exact date and I think I'm maybe a month or so short of 12 months experience.

Anyway my question is now that I have my ITA is there any advantage to applying for the Ontario PNP now over the FSWP?

My points score is 491.

Thank you!

No, I'd go straight to the PR application.

People try to gain a provincial nomination for the 600 points to guarantee an ITA. You already have it so save yourself $1500 and some time by applying direct.

Good luck!

If you pick the PR option, proceed with caution. This is my friend's case and what happened to her:

ITA - 4 Dec 2015 (CEC)
Working days in Canada on date of ITA: 363

Docs submitted & AOR: 28 Dec 2015
Working days in Canada on submission date: 387

Rejection under Section 11.2: January 15 2016 (Reason: did not qualify for CEC program on date ITA received)

As you are 1 month short of 12 months working in Canada on the date you received ITA, I would advise you to decline this ITA.

...OP has an invite under FSW, no worries about length of Canadian experience.

The question to ask is this:

1) would I have got this ITA had I not had the CRS points the EE system gave me for having 1 year of Canadian work experience due to the limitations of how I could enter the 'Work Start' and 'Work Finish' dates?

If the answer to this question is 'No' then you should decline the ITA. I'm not trying to be a negative person in this situation, I'm just recommending you take the safety first option.

If you accept the ITA, CIC officers have the option to refuse you per the following:

Accordingly, officers should refuse an application under section A11.2 if it is determined that

at the time of the ITA or e-APR, the applicant did not or does not meet the MEC, which includes the requirements of the program to which they were invited to apply; or
the applicant’s recalculated CRS score has fallen below that of the lowest-ranked candidate invited to apply in that round of invitations.
