I've been living and working in Canada on a Working Holiday Visa for 16 months as an Audio Visual Tech Supervisor for a light show.
We basically build and maintain the lighting and sound equipment for the show, and I am the lead technical supervisor for a team of 3 people.
My duties are:
- troubleshoot issues such as water damaged electronics or malfunctioning hardware
- soldering cables and performing repairs
- diagnosing faults with specialised AV testing devices
- fixing and configuring computer networks
As supervisor I'm also responsible for tasking jobs for my team, dealing with suppliers, scheduling, planning for large-scale packdowns and builds etc.
I have 5 years experience as an IT Technician in Australia, with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, majoring in Interactive Media Design.
I am REALLY struggling to work out which NOC code I should be using for my PR application.
The 'obvious' choice would be 5225 - Audio and Video recording technicians, which describes it as "Audio and video recording technicians operate equipment to record, mix and edit sound, music and videotape".
However this job classification deals more with the creative side of recording and editing content for the show (which we outsource), rather than technical equipment maintenance.
I have gone through basically all NOC codes and nothing seems to match my job description or duties.
I'm really stressing as I've heard the employee before me who had the same position as I have now, got declined during his first PR application due to an incorrect NOC.
Do you have any advice on the best suited NOC for me?
