Hello! I have a question regarding the citizenship questionnaire dates:

when I was landing as a pr (april 2017) the copr had my first/last entry dates wrong but I was told I can land without correcting that mistake, which I did. And I never did correct it. Now soon I will be due to apply for citizenship and I am wondering which dates for my first entry should I put down in the residency questionnaire on the IRRC website, the one that is correct (May 2014) or the one that is stated on mu copr (June 2015)? This will not affect my residence requirement (I won't be applying for another little while), but I am at a bit of a loss as to what is now expected.... your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, thanks for your swift reply! So, I put down May 2014 and not mention anywhere the erroneous copr dates, yes?

I am not required to correct the copr dates first, right?

Well u do not need COPR date for the purpose of citizenship as u do not submit a copy of it. Just mention ur actual date and than initiate the process of correcting it as this is required later in ur life to apply for Old Age Benefits

Thank you! That is a big weight off my shoulders for the moment!

Can you explain what the old age benefits are and how the copr dates are relevant to them? (As in, I won't be eligible for them if I don't correct the dates, or something like that?)

Old age Benefits are kind of supplement to pension u get from govt and are only given to canadians 65 and above and amount is based on when someone landed in canada. So for that purpose COPR is important document and need to be kept safe.

As other members already mentioned, I strongly suggest you to get CoPR dates fixed before applying for citizenship,
- During the interview they might check and compare the dates on CoPR, which can be different with CBSA record since CoPR was issued with wrong dates etc.
- You will need it later to applying for old age pension in Canada
My entry date on CoPR was wrong too and I applied to fix it.
