Hi all,

First post, so might as well make it a long one. ;D

I've been living in Canada for almost 3 years now under Working Holiday Visa (from Australia originally). I'm 27 and my WHV runs out Feb 28th, 2018.

I started off working as a retail salesperson (NOC Code 6552 - Skill Level C). In May 2015 I took on an unofficial role as an Assistant Retail Manager (NOC Code 6211 - Skill Level B). The only problem with that, is it was never official, I did the duties of the role but never had any paperwork to prove it etc.
The Store Manager at the time can prove it but I don't know if that's enough or if we require something from Head Office to prove my role?

In May 2016, I moved to Store Manager (NOC Code 0621 - Skill Level 0). I've made sure that's in writing this time at least ::). After working in this role for the past few months i've decided to move to another store that's closer to home (cuts my travel time from 1.5 hours each way to 25 mins). This will be as Assistant Retail Manager (NOC Code 6211 - Skill Level B) and will most likely happen Jan 1st, 2017.

So, my main questions are:

1. What is required from my workplace to prove that i've worked in that position. If it's something fairly simple, then I realistically have enough work experience to apply now.

2. Will the change of roles affect my work experience (going from a skill level 0 to skill level B) Can I combine the 2 in May 2017 to create my 12 months work experience?

3. Using the CRS Tool, my points seem to sit around 350-360. What are my chances of being selected?

4. What class should I be looking at? Skilled Immigration or CEC?

Thanks for any assistance!

Regardless of whether you are applying under FSW or CEC - you need your points to be closer to 450 in order to be selected. You aren't going to be selected if you are in the 350-360 range. Is there anything you can do to increase your score? (e.g. take IELTS again and score higher)

I haven't actually done IELTS yet. I just went through the CRS Tool on the CIC website to give me an idea of where i'd be sitting. I've had a play around with it, and the only way I can really increase my points would be to get BCPNP as that'll give the 600 points.

The main part of BC PNP that has me concerned is:

minimum two years of directly related full-time (or full-time equivalent) work experience in the skilled occupation that has been offered to you, and, if applicable, the credentials and qualification requirements of the position

But, if I can get a letter that states from my employer I did:

May 2015 - May 2016 Assistant Manager
May 2016 - Jan 2017 Store Manager
Jan 2017 - May 2017 Assistant Manager

This will give me 2 years of experience. I'd be applying under the Assistant Manager NOC code. I know that it does say it needs to be directly related experience. It also states:

The BC PNP defines directly related work experience as paid employment that is classified under the same NOC Code as the B.C. job offer that you have accepted.

Experience in a related occupation at a NOC skill level equal to or greater than the NOC code of the B.C. job offer may also be included if, at the time of application, you can satisfactorily demonstrate how this work experience is directly related. Experience in a lower skill level NOC will not be considered as directly related.

Would this work?

I don't think you are qualified for BC PNP, as you don't have enough time to complete 2 years of Canadian work exp for your NOC 0 job which is the foremost requirement for the PNP. In addition, your annual income and degree are also counted toward the SIRS score of BC PNP.

Letter of reference from your employer (direct manager or supervisor is fine), plus supporting documentation. In Canada, that would mean your T4 and/or Notice of Assessment.

See the section on "Proof of Work Experience" for information that is required in the letters.
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/tools/perm/express/intake-complete.asp
IRCC will sometimes request paystubs or other documents as additional proof, so I don't want to give you the wrong idea that the discrepancy in official vs unofficial roles will never be an issue.

Sorry, question is unclear. I think what you're asking is do the different NOCs matter? The answer is No.

Unfortunately, not great at this time. There are a lot of people in the 400's that don't get an invitation. For you, the PNP would make a world of difference. Also know that there is the regular (non-express entry) PNP stream, which takes longer, but might be an alternative for you...

4. What class should I be looking at? Skilled Immigration or CEC?
If you receive an invitiation, IRCC will tell you which one. If you are eligible for both, CEC is the default.

To look at BC PNP the non-express entry route, what do I need to do? Any links would be awesome!

Thanks for the assistance
