All the same, different names. Just like cell phone carriers, they all have the same crap wrapped in a different package. Make sure you keep enough money in the account to avoid monthly fee. I'm from the US as well and that's the one thing they never had were monthly fee's, at least with my credit union. I'm not sure how credit unions work in Canada, but the E-Transfer and stuff is really nice and works between all the big banks if you have friends or other family in Canada you need to transfer funds to. My wife and I use it and she's with BMO, I'm with Scotia.

They are all pretty bad. I have found banking in Canada very frustrating. Unless you are a very wealthy individual, don't expect much. I have tried three so far. Luck of the draw pretty much, and very much depends on your personal and or business needs. Ended up with the lesser of evils so to speak. Usually about the best you can do..
