Hi everyone,
I'm just after some info on where to start my immigration process. I live in a fairly remote part of Australia with my spouse and our 3 young children. A bit of perspective on how remote, for us to get our IELTS done we have a 600km round trip. I am currently 35 and my spouse is 30. We would like to immigrate to Canada within 2 years. We are currently looking at St Albert, Alberta and the proximity to Edmonton would help with work options.

I am a qualified Electrician in Australia, I am also a qualified Avionics technician but haven't worked in that industry for 4 years. I understand that I need to sit the Red Seal exam once in Canada. I am looking at the Federal Skilled Trades express entry process. I have looked into the CRS and I am unsure if I have enough points to be competitive in the Express entry pool. Getting a Provincial nomination would give me an extra 600 points for the CRS and would raise my chances of receiving an ITA dramatically.

So my main thing I need is some insight on where to start with our application and what I should be applying for? How does the PNP program work? Would that be an option for me?

Thanks in advance,

Jai and family

Based on the kind of assistance you're looking for - you probably need to look into hiring a lawyer or consultant to assist you. This forum will help you to answer specific questions about the application process - but no one is going to do the research for you to determine which PNP program you might qualify for or what immigration option is best for you - this is research you'll either need to do on your own (or hire a professional to assist you). Sounds like you should start by researching the Alberta program. You can find this information here: http://www.albertacanada.com/opportunity/programs-and-forms/ainp.aspx

You will need to complete the IELTS exam at some point. So this is something you'll definitely want to look into early. Make sure you take the General version of the exam (not Academic).

Good luck.
