where do you think should we settle in BC if 2 of my children plan to go to university(UBC or SFU) and they want to live with us and not rent(maybe commute for an hour or so). where do you think is the cheapest in terms of housing and other basic necessities. thanks

Living downtown will be most convenient for your children if they study at UBC, but it is also likely to be more expensive than the suburbs. Vancouver has the most expensive housing market in all of Canada. It may be worthwhile to explore the suburbs for a permanent place to stay (Surrey, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam) - which would be within an hour commute of either university.

Best of luck,

Depends on your budget..
Downtown is more convenient but quite expensive... Even 1 bedroom apartment is like minimum 1200$

Surrey could be a good option ..its close to sfu surrey campus and you can skytrain to burnaby campus or UBC
