Hi all,
I'm hoping somebody can help me with this. I have applied for my Canadian residency and filling out my form at this point. Several years ago, my job in the US required me to go to Canada to attend meetings, conferences.. I never made a sale or signed a contract, etc. This was from 2011-2013, none of these visits were longer than 4 days. At the time, there was a Canadian consulate and I applied for my visa in person explaining my intent with my work information. I was told that because I was not making any sales or staying long-term, tourist visa would be fine. Every time I entered Canada, I told them my intent and what I was there for (i.e.: meeting/client conference, etc). Never had any issues at the border. However, I now see that there is a "business tourism visa" for this purpose. I've searched the website completely and cannot find information of when this was introduced. I'm sure I would've applied for this initially if I knew it existed (I'm very much by the book). Now I'm contemplating what to write in my travel intent for the last 10 years. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

You were on a tourist visa. That's the visa they have you. Each trip should be listed as travel/vacation as you weren't working. It doesn't matter that's there's a new visa. You were given a tourist visa.

Business visas were introduced well before 2011.
