Hello seniors,

I will submit my supporting docs to Buffalo next week. I have one concern because it looks like Canada has been responding fast to the applications. Just incase my application will result to positive, my passport will expire August next year. Again, i'm in the second stage of the application (submission of supporting docs) and have not received any medical request yet....

Can passport be renewed a year earlier? Also, is it a good idea to have it renewed during the application process?

Please shed some light.

Thank you.

The passport should be valid for 1 year before applying. I would suggest you to get it re issued so that no problem arises in future.

dear friend

if your passport was issued for ten years ( ie it is not an emergency short term one year validity) you can renew your passport one year before its expiry date. Renewal does not take too long, just check Indian High Commission website in your area and all should be ok.

"A new passport can be issued on final expiry or up to one year before final expiry of any passport issued for 10 years."
The above is form an Indian High Commission website.

Hope it helps

where can i see the information that passports must be valid up to 1 year before applying?

thanks,
If you even have six months for your passport to expire you can apply but to be on a save side try to renew your passport as it may delay your process
Good Luck.

I'm in the US and i was informed that the renewal process of my passport will take a while (2 months) because our country is implementing the machine-readable passport.

Anyway, what i plan to do is to submit my supporting documents next week with photocopy of my existing passport because my 120th day is nearly coming.

I will have my passport renewed and will send a photocopy of my renewed passport to visa office.

Do you think this is acceptable? Has anyone tried doing this?

Also, does the AOR from Buffalo includes a "File #" ? Should I wait for Buffalo AOR first before submitting the photocopy of my renewed passport?
