When to lodge a Visa Application

My intake is in May 2022, but my agent suggests me to Lodge Visa in December as there is a best practice indicating that we have to apply within a six-month range.

I don't agree with this statement and Please experienced guys enlighten me whether it is true or myth.

In my opinion, you should have applied by now already (depending on where you are applying from). Processing time has increased a lot in the past few months.
