agreed !

but are we "so close to the end of processing" ? once we get s definite answer for this, it will be a less painful wait :(

In August 2015 when I created my EE profile I was thinking perhaps was a mistake because CEC process should be "so close to the end of processing"

In October 2015 when I submited my EE PR application I was thinking the same, worry about have two PR applications simultaneously (and paying it)

But every some time we realize CEC process is officially more delayed: 13, 16... months, probably more right now.

Well, it really depends on everyone WP expiration dates but if someone's under pressure, like I was, perhaps can use EE.

I would like to know how many CEC stucked applicants decided to use EE already, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one

i am thinking of going for EE, but my current wp is expiring in a few weeks. i thought it would be a good idea to wait for BOWP and then apply for EE as soon as I have BOWP in hand.

i thought of going for EE when my old app completed 1 year, but call center agents informed that these apps will be finalized shortly, which held me back. i wish i had applied :(

I already have ITA since 4th December with 467 points. All my documents are ready but I am confused as my WP is expiring in April and I have to apply for BOWP. If I have to withdraw my old application than I think I won't be able to apply for BOWP on my EE application as it has condition that you should have passed eligibility. I talked to my lawyer with whom I have applied earlier, he told me that I am eligible for applying under BOWP according to my old application. Please advise should I go with EE or not.

I know perfectly how frustrating can be this process when your WP deadline is coming, CEC doesn't move and BOWP rules changes.

We all know there is not a way to request CIC to process our older applicattions faster, so I made my decision to try with EE.

I really hate to fill all the paperwork again, to pay again and the stress again about if I filled out everything OK

But in August 2015 I decided to try with EE because my 4th year as TFW is April 2016 and old CEC process was stuck.

I don't want polemics, but my personal way of life it's avoid complaining and take action, useful action, by myself.

Perhaps contact a MP can help someone but probably not to all of us.

Complaining letters to CIC, government, mass media can help? Not so far.

I think can be a good idea contact CBC, they like a good history about immigration, but focused in how the delay affects families, not complaining too much because I think isn't the right way.

Permanent Resident probably is a privilege not a right, anyways I don't want to complain, probably bother, no one if I have a alternative.

I don't think too much complaining is good for our as immigrants, we should adapt

I just was telling you my experience, thinking perhaps could help.

I used this forum a lot to learn about immigration procedures so I wanted to return a bit, offering some alternative to all of us which are in the same situation.

Good luck everybody!

Thanks, everyones personal situation is different, good on those who applied for EE motnhs ago, but I feel now its no pointt, if we are getting assurance our files will be processed in 4 or 5 months and EE is taking roughly around the same time.
I love Canada, but even when I was there on an open work permit, things were difficult, it took almost a year before I could open a credit card and rent my own apartment, not to mention finding a job, when your permit is close to expiring.
This is why i made the conscious decision to come back home to apply for my PR and avoid the stress.
This forum is really helpful and you can get a more realistic idea of processing times on here compared to CIC website and thats how we need to use it.
Not for complaining, or making false statements, but lets encourage each other with updates, news, stories Q & A's etc..
Its a new year, and I'm sure good things are coming our way, we just need to be patient

they never asked to withdraw the old application. i am in the same situation and did not apply under EE as i am waiting for my BOWP (i have already applied). but once i get my BOWP, i will go for EE without a second thought.

If you want to apply EE after you WP expires you will loose 600 points for current LMO/LMIA if you are TFW.

I strongly recommend to create your EE profile ASAP before WP expires and if you receive ITA decide if you want to apply quickly, I guess if you apply after WP expires you application could be rejected if after loose 600 points you have less points than EE withdraw minimum

I was not asked to withdraw old app.

I applied to BOWP on December based out on my old CEC application and new EE application. No answer yet.

I don't think apply to EE can affect your BOWP app, but I'm not a expert.

If you appply EE after WP expires you will lose 600 points for LMO, if you have it

If you WP expires in April you SHOULD apply for BOWP rigth now (around 3 months process)

I don't feel confident to advise about nothing, but if you apply to EE and you are asked for withdraw you can decide at this point what should be better. I hope you obtain your 1 year BOWP and old CEC be already processed but who knows!

Personally if I was asked to withdraw my old application I probably wasn't sure about it. Take chances only with the new one and the possibility to be rejected due to Siemens mistake afraid me. Hopefully all worked good.

NOTE: Edited several times to add more information

If you have LMO, can you still apply for BOWP?

I think so, why not?

You can apply BOWP 4 months before WP expires based out in your CEC app (I don't know if new rules can affect)

If your company have a new LMIA and applied for a new WP for you, you can not apply for BOWP, as far I know

Here it says you cannot if you have a new LIMA:
The following foreign nationals do not qualify for a BOWP:

foreign nationals in Canada under section 186 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR), who are exempt from the work permit requirement;
foreign nationals who have let their status expire and must apply for restoration in order to return to temporary resident status;
foreign nationals whose work permits are valid for longer than four months or who already have a new LMIA that can be used as the basis for a new work permit application;
foreign nationals applying for a BOWP at a port of entry or visa office;
spouses and dependants of principal permanent resident applicants; and
foreign nationals who are inadmissible to Canada.

I recommend to fill out an EE profile and see what happens about points.

You always can refuse to apply if you receive a ITA

Hi there,
Just to let U know, my husband called call center today asking abut our application.There was no progress since June when we have done our medicals. Call center Agent said that for CEC 2014 the processing time is 21 months and till April 2016 will not provide any information to us.Agent was asked why we don't see progress in our application but people who send after us their application stars to received medicals and RPRF requests.Our application was complete since the beginning and there was no request for additional documents, and application is clear - no doubts. Agent respond was that he don't know that is lottery.............OMG

Now the processing time is 21 months. I guess we have to wait a little longer than expected!
