When is the right time to open a Canadian Bank account - Seniors pls advise

Hi Seniors,

Me and my wife are landing in Vancouver on the 30th june only for 4 days just to fufill the landing obligations. We are planning to come back to Settle down permanently in 6 to 8 months time.

Now the question I have is

1. Should I open a bank account when I am in canada for 4 days? I don't mind but all the banks have packages favouring newly landed immigrants for upto an year and I feel that if I open an account when I am there intially, it would be a waste as I am not going to be there for atleast 6 months.

2. If I come back to settle down permanently in 6 months time will the bank will offer the "New Landed immigrations packages" even though I have landed 6 months before.

1. If u don't want - u don't need to open a bank a/c now.
2. Yes, within a yr if u return - u still get those facilities.
