Starting April 1, 2011, many temporary foreign workers will be subject to a four-year ‘cumulative duration’ limit on the length of time they may work in Canada. Each foreign worker allow to work in Canada for 4 years then you have to go back to your country and re-entry with new work permit after 4 years.
I came here as a student and got an open work permit at the port of entry from march 2011 but there is a remark on my the work permit that I can start working on August 2011 then after I finished my class I have changed my status to worker. I wonder as "the 4 years cumulative duration" count from my first work permit that I have got from my student visa or start from my worker status. Please Help. And Thank you in advance

:-[ seem like nobody could give me the answer?

August 2011. Assuming that it was not a PGWP. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/backgrounders/2011/2011-03-24.asp
