Hi all,

I got the confirmation that I have completed all requirements for my program earlier this month. I worked couple shifts since I have received this email, thinking that as long as I have my study permit I can work till graduation. However after browsing the forum I saw people saying that as soon as I got the confirmation of program completion I cannot work with study permit anymore.

I cannot seem to find detailed support from cic website so I’m wondering can anyone help me..? Am I doing unauthorized work right now? If so I’ll stop working and apply for PGWP as soon as possible.

I believe you can only work FT only if you have applied for PGWP, up to the point you received confirmation that if your permit was approved or refused, you may resume work if the permit was approved. Also, the new rule, as of 2019 states that the officer may issue a permit (study/work) after the applicant has ceased illegal work or study after 6 months. You'll have to make due diligence and contact an RCIC consultant to make sure everything is in order.

Yes, you are working illegally.
