A long long time ago... I can still remember... how that music... used to make me smile.

We applied two months short of two years after we got married. We got married in Nov 2008 and applied in September 2010. We debated for over a year as to what we were going to do, stay here in Oregon or return home to Nova Scotia. Ultimately, my wife wanted to go to Nova Scotia and I couldn't say no LOL.

Ines, why do you think you were called for an interview?
How long were you together?

We got married om May 2010. We lived together three months and then my husband went back to usa. Before we married we met in person only once. In our applications we included only few proofs (few picture of the weddings, mail history, chat history,...). All our communications were via skype or gmail and we could not get the skype video history.

got married in may submitted in june! about 3 weeks after.
we started the paperwork on our honeymoon!

A recent thread about timelines make me wonder how long AFTER you married did you apply? My fiancee and I would like to apply within a few days or weeks of getting married but are concerned that it might look strange and rushed. In my travels throught this forum I see some people with a few months to a few years so does waiting longer have any bearing?

How long did you wait after getting married to apply?
Was there a positive result?
Did the IO question you about it if you interviewed?

Married Jan. 2007
Applied Feb 2011

We were not really even planning to go to Canada until we started thinking about schooling and quality of life for the kids. We are obviously a long way off from hearing whether the result is positive or not.

Thanks all! It seems that those who wait a year or more are living with their spouse outside of Canada so perhaps that was skewing my perception. In my case, my fiancee and I will be bouncing back and forth b/t Alberta and Utah so I can finish school and she can stay working so it works better for us to apply sooner rather then later.

It takes most people a good few months to put togther a good application. Do your research, I took 2 to 3 months putting mine together and I am finding after this forum, there is serious areas where I could have made it stronger and more convincing. It's not the length of time important, it's the strength of your application they will care about.

i agree nylalisa !
