Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
On the sponsor questionnaire IMM5540E

Question 9 asks
"Are you a natrualized citizen or a permamnent resident"?
YES
"When did you become a permanent resident"
This date I cant find anywhere. it was back in mid 90s. I checked a photocopy of landing document, the filed "Landed on" is empty and has no date.
I am a naturalized canadian citizen applying for spousal sponsorship of my spouse from outside canada.

Question 10:
Were you sponsored yourself to come to canada" if YES "when were you sponsored"
Problem:
I came as a dependant of my father. We all came together. 3 siblings, mother and father. I was a small child. So if my dad was sponsored by his uncle does that make my status as "sponsored" too?

On the landing document there's a field called "Remarks by the immigration officer" and it has the following sentence:
"Sponsored for a period of 5 years"
I'm not sure what this 5 years means here. If ur sponsored to come to canada as a permanent resident, then what does this 5 years means?

I have no idea, but if I couldn't sort it, I would probably just include a note saying 'unsure, arrived as a small child, please see copy of landing document' and include that?

It means that was a financial obligation for your uncle for 5 years. If you guys needed social assistance back in mid 90s, your uncle had to pay the government back whatever assistance you guys took for first 5 years. But it doesnt have anything to do with your application now.

The date should be on the back of your permanent resident card!

And also, since you dont know the exact date, just ask your family members and do an educated guess on which month and year you came. Leave the day blank cause its been 20+ years and it should not matter cause I guess you are a Canadian Citizen for 15+ years.....

And in IMM5540E Question # 10:

What type of sponsorship was it?
Your answer should be dependent child.
