When can I use ECAS?

I only applied last week but I see a lot of people mentioning ECAS to check their application status.

Background: My spouse has a UCI number from when she became a citizen years ago, and I have a UCI number from when I applied to IEC in 2011.

At which point can we use ECAS?

1. When the application is either approved/refused at Mississauga, (won't tell you much)
2. When the application is received at the overseas office.

it took me 2 weeks AFTER receiving SA to be able to log in. that was back in the spring. many recent applicants have reported longer wait times to be able to log in. initially, i was only able to use my sponsor's information to see my application information.

generally, if a person has applied for some sort of visa before, they may be able to log in earlier and see their current status. for MOST applicants it can be 2-4 weeks AFTER receiving SA, and for some, longer or not at all. there is no consistency to it.

I tried logging in with my UCI about a week before I got SA. I'm the applicant and had UCI from previous work permits. It could have worked for longer but I hadn't tried any earlier. Although this is different from the previous two posters, so I think it is totally different for everyone.
