I just did my landing today, and from what I've read, it will take up to 45 days to receive my PR card. Do I need to wait until I get the PR card to apply for a SIN?

Nope, (unless you were "landed in Canada as a spouse or refugee) you go tot he nearest Service Canada office with your passport and the COPR in it and you will have your SIN in about 5 minutes, card will follow in about 2 weeks.

Congratts on you recent landing! I recently landed as well! Keep us posted on how long it takes to get your PR card. I will do the same.

Processing time is currently listed at 29 business days. Moat people recieve the card within 40-45 days of landing.

hi i will be soon come in Canada as a spouse, how can i get a SIN card if this will be my case, and how long will it takes? what are the requirements to be able to get SIN card?

thanks!

I landed as a Permanent Resident last month and I applied and gained my SIN number within the first week. Just carry your COPR and your foreign passport to your nearest Service Canada centre. It doesn't take long and they will give you your SIN number on a printed sheet. The SIN card itself will take a bit longer to arrive.
