What's the housing situation like in Calgary?

I've studied abroad at University of Calgary for a semester, living on campus. I have no idea what the housing market looks like, and since Calgary is my main interested destination (since I'm already familiar with certain parts of the city) that's where I'd like to focus most of my housing around. My interest is in a decent area, one bedroom for two people (my fiancee would be joining me). I'm not sure where in Calgary I'm going to work, but I do know that's where I'll be applying for IT/Computer programming jobs. One neighborhood that I liked the most is Kensington.

Is it hard to find rent for a one bedroom at a decent area? I expect prices to be around 1k+, hopefully not more than 1,600, or are those just dreamy prices?

Thanks in advance

At $1600, you can actually get a 2/3 bedroom detached house in a decent neighborhood. You might as well rent the whole house and then find some room mates to occupy the rest to share the rent/utilities.
