I don't plan on bringing my car when I move to Canada. If I am not able to get assistance from family to help me move (ie them driving me with my items), then I just plan on flying there. I'm trying to think of the best way to ship/send my personal items with me. I probably won't be able to bring it all with me on my flight. But I don't plan on bringing anything big.

Books, clothes, handful of electronics and kitchen items. Basic things. Probable around half a car full.

Do any of you have suggestions? What would be the simplest and preferably cheapest options?
Thanks :)

Books can be a pain if you have a bunch. They are heavy and cost a fortune to ship. You could try a bulk carrier and have it loaded on a skid. Probably the cheapest way. Find yourself a customs broker to deal with the paperwork for importing. Avoid UPS for importing goods. They charge a fortune. Post office might be a decent way too, depending on the size and weight.....and if you aren’t in a big hurry to get some of it.

Besides UPS or Fedex, I don't really know what my shipping service options would be. I'd be moving from midwest USA to Alberta.

I Used Upack relocube. it would provide more space and also at lesser cost. You can check it out.If you are Landing first time ,ensure list to follow goods are stamped when you land. You can custom clear yourself and you wont need to pay anything. You just have to take the Goods to follow list and the shipment invoice to the Customs office. I had cleared it myself. Brokers just charge huge beware of that.
