Hi! Nope, i have no status whatsoever in Canada as of now. I only have permanent residency in my home country right now (Hong Kong), so should I just upload my ID card? Thanks for the help.

Yes. You need status in Canada so why not apply for visitor record. You entered Canada on some sort of status.
