Sorry for the dumb question.

I know there is a chest Xray and a basic physical, that's involved. BUT, is there blood work? If so, is it a basic CBC, or are their vials after vials after vials. With both a hubby and son who HATE needles (my 6yr old, on his annual checkup for the varicella vaccine, was melting down before the initial alcohol swab was near his arm) and their physicals are Monday, I need to know what to play up, and what to play down. Should I also hold off my son releasing his bladder before we go?

Thanks!

there is a urine and blood test. just 1 vial. they are checking for communicable diseases. pretty simple and basic.

Thanks rhcohen. That was a huge help. Now I know, buy a little present at Target tomorrow and wrap it. Plus let him drink a juice box on his way into Philly. He'll have the urine for the sample and I hope the concept of a present will help him cooperate, he's allowed to cry, but just cooperate. He had a 7 day bug at the end of the summer (we saw the CHOP Dr's twice during the bug), finally he ended up in the ER with an IV and 2 bags of fluids. The IV, that took 3 times to get right, has set the precedence of his acceptance of any needle. He was great the first time, the next two times he was screaming and crying "why are you doing this to me". Talk about a mom's heart breaking....

At least I know now, I will not mention the BW, plus I'll have something to focus his sights on. One vial should be doable. FINGERS CROSSED.

Not to throw this off but they did 2 vials for me. . . . I did have mine done IN Canada though so I don't know if that makes a difference or not

Thanks for the extra insight.... Tomorrow I'll know what they do here

It looks like a 6yr old doesn't get blood work, PHEW!!!!!!! Dodged a bullet! It appears blood work is for people greater than 15 yrs old.
