For paper applications the processing time is 171 days. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp So you will have implied status when your present study permit expires.

1. You did a mistake by applying via paper application, even when the processing time for online application is much shorter and also reliable to track.

2. Anyway, now you should contact Alberta office once again for the receipt confirmation of your paper application, otherwise you will be in a fix position.

3. In case of denial or even implicit denial of receipt confirmation, you must apply once again via online application.
