Hi Mentors,

After sending the application, what can i expect and what acronyms do i need to know?

Cheers

It will likely be 3-4 months before CIC opens your application and you hear anything from them.

Ok. Will i get a receipt of accepting my application???

No - you won't. Again, you won't hear anything from CIC for 3-4 months.

CC Charge - Not by the CIC, but by your bank. If you paid with DD you would not have a clue
PER - Positive Eligibility Review: You have been charged and your application is OK. Generally most applications that would eventually be rejected are rejected at this stage. So if you get PER, things are going good.
AOR or File Transfer - Acknowledgement of Receipt. This moves the file from the CIO to the VO
MR - Medical Request
PPR - Passport Request

In which of these stages do we get any number assigned to our file? When can we begin to check the online status?

You'll receive a number around 4 months after your application is received by CIC.
