I applied for an off-campus work permit, and I'll receive it in few weeks. However, I really need to make money next summer and can't spend too much on studies (I have been a full-time student in vancouver for 8 months already). The off-campus permit allows me to work 20 hours a week when I go to school, and full-time during breaks and "summer holidays".
I would like to know what is "summer holidays"? From May to August? June to August? July to August? How long am I allowed not to study for?
I really need to know quickly to make up my mind about whether I got back to France for summer, or stay here if I can afford to do so.

Thanks for your quick reply,

Jo

From the date the semester ends at your school, usually May, until the Fall Semester starts, usually the first week of September.

What if the school has three semester systems like Waterloo university?

Can I not register in the spring semester and assume it is a vacation?

It really doesn't matter which semester you take off for the "summer/winter/fall" But you still need to have studied for 6 months before you can apply for an off-campus work permit.

Yes, I understand that. but AFTER you get the off-campus work permit you are allowed to work full time in breaks like reading week or summer breaks. What if there are courses in the university during the summer? Can I choose not to register and work full time in that semester?
