Hi everyone,

I'm recently married and I will be sponsoring my wife through the outland process. I'll be sending her all my documents on my end.

ON the IMM1344E document it asks my status in Canada. I'm unsure of what to fill out. My parents arrived as landed immigrants in 1989. I do have my citizenship card which I received in 1993. I assume that makes me a naturalized Canadian? If I select this option it asks me for the date I became this status as well as a UCI/Client ID. From my knowledge I don't have any sort of number either than a 7 digit number on my citizenship card (I read online that this is supposed to be a 8 digit number).

Also to add, I only have the year on my citizenship, I do not know the month or day. Is there a way to find out this information and am I in fact a naturalized Canadian or a Canadian by descent?

Thanks everyone

Were you born in Canada?

Sorry I should have specified. I was born outside of Canada, then my parents and I came here when I was 2 years old. I received my citizenship in 1993 through my parents when they became citizens as well. I suppose this is naturalized citizenship? Just want to be sure, not too sure if they changed the laws and what it is recognized as.

It sounds like you are a naturalized citizen.
