What is the next, and when to expect it?

Hello. Please can someone tell me what is next for me, and when do I expect it?
I applied out of Ottawa, Ontario.

Here's my status update from the IRCC website:

1. We received your application for Canadian citizenship (grant of citizenship) on October 27, 2017.
2. We sent you correspondence acknowledging receipt of your application(s), and a study book called Discover Canada on December 29, 2017.
3. We started processing your application on January 26, 2018.

If there are no issues with your application, the next step would be your test/interview invitation. When that is can vary greatly depending on the application. The best estimate is the tracking spreadsheet that several people her maintain and look to that to get a rough idea of general timelines.

My brother applied 20 days before me, and he recieved a mail asking for biometrics. Do they ask that for everyone?

I don't think that is standard. But it doesn't mean there is an issue with the application. Sometime they just want more information/documentation. But these type of requests do slow things down.
