Hello all...

I have been informed by my postal service that my Spousal visa application arrived at CPC Mississauga on the 1st March 2011.

I have been informed that after about a month and a half(When they assess elegibility to sponsor) i should receive confirmation that my application is in process, usually this is when I get a Client ID number?

I still have not received any correspondence. I want to know if anyone has experienced a longer wait than what is stipulated as normal?

Do I receive notice if not eligible to sponsor? If I have not received any notice by now should I maybe assume my package never actually got there like they said it did?

Thanks guys...(worried)

If you or your sponsor are in Canada, you may call the CIC Call Centre to inquire for your client ID. 1-888-242-2100.

Have you tried checking eCAS?

Hello there!

Thank you so much for your tip.

At this time my wife and I are in South Africa and are unable to call that number. I have just sent off a User Representative form to allow her sister in Canad to check for us, so just waiting to be able to do that.

I was just wondering if anybody else had experienced an unusually long wait to be approved as a sponsor as that is the 1st step before getting assigned a Client ID number right?

If I have not received any correspondence as yet should I be worried?

We're still waiting to be approved, actually, and our application was received Feb 15. Around the time when we should have been able to check eCAS (based on the timeline on the CIC website) my husband called the Call Centre and received the client ID number for the sponsor (himself). That was Mar 15. Our eCAS became active on Mar 17, so we can actually use it now (we check with the receipt number). All it says is "In process" for the sponsor. As my husband receives ODSP (disability support), they have to make checks at the provincial level before he can be approved. Last time we checked, they said the provincial checks should be completed by next week.

SuperSham..you should be able to log onto E-Cas using the sponsor's information and the receipt number from your online fee payment receipt...at least you will know for sure that it has been received :)

I have just checked E-Cas and seen that my application was indeed received on March 1!!!!!!!! OMG!!! Thank you guys for advice and guidance.

I have another question then...

On the Client Application Status page under Sponsorship Application Status it says "Decision Made" which is also a link.

When I click on that link it then says...

"We received your application to sponsor SHAMIL LAGERDIEN on March 1, 2011.
We started processing your application on March 25, 2011.
We sent you a letter on April 15, 2011 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us."

Also under Permanent Residence Application Status on the Client Application Status page it says "Application Received" and at that page it say "We received SHAMIL LAGERDIEN's application for permanent residence on April 27, 2011."

Is it safe to assume that the application to sponsor was successful? I mean would they process my application for Permanent Residence if the sponsorship was unsuccessful? That seems counter intuitive to me but I know you can never be sure with these things?

I don't want to get too excited ahead of schedule you know lol

What has your guys' experience been with this?

yes you were approved, unless you checked the box that said to continue with the process even though you weren't eligible to sponsor. If you did not check this box, then yes, you can assume you were eligible and you were accepted!

congrats
