Renew your passport and apply for multiple entry if u want your visa valid for longer years, when u reach the boarder mostly they will grant u 6 months even though u plan to stay for less than 6 months

Allowed entry is usually given for 6 months.

The TRV is usually given for as long as the passport life.

No such thing as a visitor visa.

most tourist visas have a max of 90 or 180 days

what he mean then ??
Again, no such thing as a tourist visa.

You'll have to ask that person what he was referring to.

(I have heard that about US Visa, but not sure if that is correct).

Hey Prince!

If your application for a TRV is approved, it will be placed in your passport. Once you get to Canada, upon arrival the border officer will decide how long you are allowed to stay based on the information you give him or her. The usual time allowed is 6 months but if for some reason they have doubts on your reasons to be here, it could be shorter.
