What is my status in Canada?

So, I can't have open work permit(from PR) and a study visa at the same time. Not even under dual intent?

I confirmed this with my lawyer several times, i thought it was too good to be true.

Dual intent is having temporary residency status while also apply for PR.

A within Canada application is an app to extend and change conditions, meaning you would be changing from the previous status.

People on the forum have said they've held both before but I've never seen anything on the IRCC website or IRPA to say it's possible.
