Hi everyone, we got a request from the Dakar, Sengal office asking for a bunch of documents - most of which were straight forward, but one we have no idea about. Does anyone know what a "family booklet" is?

Sponsored person is from Cameroon.

I called CIC (Canada) and they surprisingly didn't have much insight either. I will try the Dakar office directly as well, but my previous experience with contacting has made them my last resort :(

Help!

I'm not from Senegal, but I'm guessing it would be the document that you get when you are married. There is something similar in France, and I would imagine that a lot of the Senegalese system is similar. In French it's called a "livret de famille", and it's given to every couple who gets married. It's the "recognition" that you from a new family, and the future children will be registered there as well. It proves that you are married, and registered as such, and it follows you normally all your life (divorce, death, children, etc).
Not sure where to get that in Senegal, but if you got married in Senegal, then you can ask for it. If you got married in Canada but your husband is from Senegal, then you can contact the embassy. Here is what they say about it on their website http://ambsencanada.org/dir_affaires_consulaires/etat-civil.html (hope that you can read French!).
Hope that helps,
Good luck,
Sweden

A quick google resulted in "The main proof of citizenship is the family booklet". This is not directly related to Cameroon, but was referenced in a site about it, and several other countries. I hope this is useful.

Hello,
I know it been such a long time since you posted this question, but did you get a Family Booklet?
If you didn't, did you have a problem when processing your PR?

I am about to submit my PR, and I just realize I am missing the Family Booklet, I have no idea what it is, or where to get it, I am from Mexico, and never heard about it before :(

Thanks! I appreciate any help.
