I don't mean to scare anyone, but I was just watching the news and the thought crossed my mind. What if a new war will start in Europe? My husband is in Canada and we have been waiting for our visas for about 9 months now. We might face another 5 months of waiting until the usual processing time for our VO has passed. I am alone with my two daughters, 3 and 9 yo, in Bucharest, not so far away from a very hot spot on Europe's Map.
And I wonder what happens during war times? Do you have any idea? Do they rush things? Do they give you emergency passes?

I know it's a long shot, I just wonder...

The situation would have to get quite bad before you could expect any expedite processing. And to benefit from the exepdite processing, you would have to be located in the country directly affected. If you're in a nearby country, then you should expect processing to continue as usual.

I hope that doesn't happen, Scylla. Thanks for your answer.

What european country are you reffering to as a Hot spot?? Haven't been watching the news lately

lately, or haven't been watching at all? ;) i'm sure she meant the situation in ukraine

Are your children Canadian ..can you come on a visitor visa and wait for your PR..JUST WONDERING

Just the youngest one. At the embassy they said we are free to apply for a visitor visa but they cannot grant that the officer at Pearson will allow us to enter the country unless we demonstrate that we will leave Canada when our visa expires. :(
And yes, I meant Ukraine.

Any visitor to Canada runs that risk .Have you applied for citizen ship for the youngest child.

Yes she already has her Canadian Passport. But I would have to enroll the eldest in school and I think I cannot do that until our status in Canada is clear.

some school boards allow it and others dont. My bother was here from the U.k, without status waiting for his PR and they let them enroll the kids in school. Stay safe and hopefully your PR papers will come soon.
