I have a friend who's working here in Canada for 4 years. Finally his boyfriend just arrive and they are planning to have first baby born here. The thing is they are both under a contract and not a PR or citizen here in Canada. They will try to apply for a PR but what if baby come's first which I think a possibility, it takes time to process all the paper works. They've been told that even if the baby will be born here, the citizenship is still the citizenship of the parents. Is that true at all? Thanks.

If the baby is born in Canada it will automatically be a Canadian citizen.

The child is entitled to all of the benefits of citizenship.

However the parents will receive no benefits from having a citizen child.

if parents are holder of work permit, they can get benefit of having a child such as child tax benefit
