- DM 04 June 2016
Hi -
Just wanted to share my experience briefly so people know to watch out for it.
I am US Outland, Ottawa CPC. Decision Made June 2, 2016. COPR was mailed same day, according to CPC.
It never arrived.
Now, I live in an apartment in the US. In the US, mail standard is to write address like this:
123 street Dr.
Apt 111
City State Zip
In Canada, it's acceptable to write it like this:
111 - 123 Street Dr
City State Zip
The Canada Post Website points out that when sending mail to the US to use the US standards.
I contacted CPC before DM and asked them to correct the way they had my address. They responded vaguely, saying that the address was correct in the system.
Fast forward to June 30th. No COPR. I changed my address and told them no COPR. Confusing email chains ensued, finally got a straight answer from them.
This is what they do when COPR is lost in the mail:
They cancel the COPR
They request 2 new pictures per applicant, and a prepaid, private courier return envelope to be sent to their case processing center office, to the PR reissuance department.
They will send COPR in said envelope
I sent all of that via FedEx from Atlanta, GA - so the cost is over $100 there and back.
I'm letting people know in case it happens to someone else. I hope it does not. I'm pretty frustrated but will be glad to have my COPR finally.
