My understanding is that I have to hand in my PR card at the oath ceremony. Do they then issue me an alternative card. How do I continue to travel after I become a citizen?

My understanding is it takes months to get a passport.

Can I just enter and exit Canada on my old country's passport?

My understanding is you need a Citizen Certificate to apply for the passport and that takes 5 months to get.

If you lost it and apply for a replacement it takes 5mts. You'll get the certificate at Oath and after two business days eligible to apply for passport.

You get your citizenship certificate at the oath ceremony but as it states here, http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/notices/notice-new-cit.asp new citizens are asked to wait two business days after their ceremony before applying for a passport.

It is amazing that people are not able to google for simple information, i.e passport, just amazing

Thanks!

P.S. I am amazed how some people forget that this forum exist ,not only to share personal experiences through the immigration process, but also to assimilate the plethora of information already available (and readily "googable") on the Internet. Sigh.

Yeah, however I don't think that sharing an URL http://passport.gc.ca/info/service.aspx?lang=eng is part of the plethora of information that can be shared LOL!
