Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this forum and I just submitted my family sponsorship application this March. UPS has confirmed that the application arrived on March 14th, but when I check my status online using IM 5401 receipt number it shows "can't identify". It has passed the standard processing time, which shows on the CIC website that they are working on applications received on March 20th.

I was wondering what usually happens after you submit the application? Do you get an email notification or mail? We didn't get anything so we can't check status online using any other identification type. The medical and police check were both included in the application.

Also, can anyone give a general timeline of what happens and how they notify us after the application is sent?

Thank you so much!!

You probably won't get any kind of information until you have been approved of sponsoring. You can check on CIC for timelines for first stage and second stage.

What VO are you going out of?

Don't forget to check your junk mail. AOR might go there instead of the inbox. If passed the time stated you can call the call center.

Thank you for the reply! I'm a F1 student living in the States, so I filed for CPP-O. It was pretty confusing that they had the Buffalo closed down nd everything. Is CPP-O any faster?

Thank you! We can only call if we are in Canada? Is there any other ways to know the stage we are on?

Thanks!!
