Hello,

I have received my PRTD valid to February 2023.
I want to go back to Canada to renew my PR card because it has expired.

my question is what happens next?
Do they process a new PR card as soon as i land in the airport? or should I file an application from within Canada after arriving or is it an online application?

Can you kindly advise? it would really help if you send any link for the application if that is the case. Also, I'm planning to travel back during the holiday season (Christmas break), does that influence anything? will certain offices be closed at that time that would affect my application? how long do you recommend that I should stay there after the application?

thank you

For applying PR card, you can use the portal to apply online or send a paper application. Seen posters got stuck with the processing for 9 months, so would you stay for so long (a year)? Besides, you need a Canadian address for the PR card to mail to you.

Unfortunately I can't stay that long, I'm working outside of Canada. I have an address in Canada though, so that would be easier.
The paper application needs to be filled in as soon as I arrive, right? Can I have a link to that application and to check what kind of documents do I need ? can I fill out the application and mail it as soon as I arrive, and will there be any effect if I do that during Christmas break ?

Do you meet RO or is RC1 written on your PRTD?

R1 category... can you explain it to me if you know any details?

R1 is a regular PRTD. Only apply for a new PR card if you meet the residency requirement.
