my partner was once arrested but the judge dismissed the case because there is no evidence showing about the charges that he tried to abuse a 14 yr old kid and these are all just because of her exwife. and the case has been 2 years ago. is this gonna affect our sponsorship? and one of the questios in the form is asking that have you been convicted of sexual offence or serious violence againstanyone,or an offence causing bodily harm to a family or anyone or an attempt to commit such offence,,im not sure what does this means....

please help me...

Does it show up on his background check? If so, then you need to tell CIC but mention it was dismissed. I think either way it needs to be mentioned, but again explaining what happened.

There is a huge difference between convicted and accused. You say the form states, "have you been convicted?" Being arrested does not mean a conviction.

If the charges were dismissed or discharged but fingerprints were taken, my suggestion would be to call the police station that originally charged him and ask for his file to be destroyed. Even charges that are dismissed or dropped still show until they are asked to be destroyed. I know...stupid!!
There is a form you have to fill out at the station that you were originally charged at.

So we have to answer no...

Why not get a CBC and see what if any things are listed on it ( i.e. convictions or other )? Then you can see if you have a clean record or not. Maybe providing an explanation letter for non-convictions?

See the last paragraph on that page:

"CIC will also do background checks in all the countries or territories in which you and your family members have lived. These checks will determine if you have had any arrests or convictions, or if you are a security risk to Canada."

Yeah i think we should do that....thanx guys
